Danish-Swedish group of officials to investigate whether there is a need for a bridge between Elsinore and Helsingborg. The interest is apparently greatest in Swedish side.
There may need to build a bridge more between Denmark and Sweden are.
Tuesday, the two governments to establish a Danish-Swedish officer working group to examine the need for a permanent connection between Elsinore and Helsingborg.
The resolution was presented after a ministerial meeting in Limhamn at Malmö in connection with the Oresund bridge's 10th anniversary.
The Swedes, who are interested in an extra bridge, while the attitude is more lukewarm among Danish politicians.
- I would not rule out that we in the longer term may be interested in a second bridge across the Sound, said the Danish Transport Minister Hans Christian Schmidt (V).
The Oresund bridge's lifespan is the number of daily commuters has grown significantly. Today commute more than 20,000 people back and forth across the Øresund Bridge.
On the Swedish side of the strait is not in doubt that it's appropriate to put the bridge number two on the agenda.
- It is natural that we now begin to analyze the need and look into the future, says Swedish minister for Nordic cooperation, Cristina Husmark Pehrsson, which together with Economy, Trade and Industry minister Brian Mikkelsen (Conservative) hosted the meeting with participation of six Swedish and six Danish ministers.
- When Swedes want to do a research work, we would like to make a diagnostic evaluation work with the Swedes, says Brian Mikkelsen, who also looks very bright in the Oresund region's future.
