The ship has for many years had the momentum as faithful icebreaker and tugboat . The vessel is representative of a ca. 100 -year era in Danish shipping - and shipbuilding history, the time between sailing ships and the modern motor ships.

It is a combined tug and icebreaker , which was built in 1908 and delivered to Randers Port Authority 1909 when it served as a tugboat and icebreaker . s/s Bjørn was in operation until 1981, when the Danish veteran ship club for the conservation of old ships took over the S/S Bear 72 million, one penny for each active years , provided that the ship was restored .
