Elsinore invites you into the city, where the ramparts of Kronborg Castle, Culture Yard, the bustling activity in the harbor, ships' voyages across the sound, the old well-preserved half-timbered houses and not least a backyard with Denmark's richest cultural heritage, all of which helps to provide a forum wealth of good experiences. Elsinore is a thriving commercial and has been since the 1500s. The historic center has several pedestrian streets with many exciting retail stores, Elsinore City Center, Axeltorv with market stalls Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, as well as cafes and restaurants for a much-needed respite. In the evening there is the opportunity to go to a bar or disco, cinema, the casino or perhaps a concert or theatrical performance at the Culture Yard.
From the harbor there are frequent ferry service to Helsingborg in Sweden with the car ferry Scandlines or pedestrian ferry Sound-bus.

One ruler's coronation church.
After the introduction of absolute monarchy in 1660 was Frederiksborg Castle chapel coronation church for the Danish kings until the last coronation in 1840th
Among the armistice and order shields that adorn the walls, there are several that are donated to the international heads of state Nelson Mandela and prominent Danes Maersk McKinney Møller and Niels Bohr.

Wonderful interior
When Chr. The. 4 initiated the church's construction 1606-17 were not spared: skilled craftsmen were brought in from all over Europe to carry out the artistic decoration, including unique marquetry work in the pews, gilded and painted stucco arches, apostles in all niches and symbols of the king's duties and obligations in the arches.
Spared by the Great Fire
Large parts of Frederiksborg Castle burned down by the disastrous fire in 1859 but the church went almost free, and the authentic interior can be experienced today. You can also see Guild Gallery the Elephant and Dannebrog coats of arms, some interesting cultural history.
From the gallery there is access to the king's prayer chamber was one of the most splendid room of Christian the 4th slot, but which unfortunately was destroyed by the castle fire in 1859. The room, however, was restored with panels marquetry and ceilings are ivory decoration, so that today almost looks like before the fire. The artist Carl Bloch performed in the period 1865-1879 23 paintings with motifs from the life of Christ, which was hung up in the oratory.

The church has three organs, of which it is the oldest is Compenius The organ, built in 1610. The organ was a gift to Chr. D. 4 from his sister, the Duchess of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel. It is played on it every Thursday 13:30 to 14:00.

Today The church serves the castle church as a parish church and forms festive setting for worship, baptisms, confirmations and weddings. At religious ceremonies can therefore as visitors to the castle experience that there is no access to the church.
